Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (Luanar) management has disclosed that it is ready to support its institutional team should it get promoted to the TNM Super League next season.

Currently, Luanar Football Club competes in the Chipiku Premier Division in the Central Region.

Kaunda said management was impressed with the performance of the team.

“We have asked the coach to identify talent from these games to build a strong team. Our aim is to see Luanar win the Chipiku League and participate in the national league,” Kaunda.

Kaunda said the games offered the students a good platform to interact and network.

“The games are important and they help students have a friendly attitude towards one another. Sport also helps students keep fit,” he added.

Luanar FC Coach Milias Pofera Jegwe hailed Luanar’s management for hosting the games.

“This is great opportunity for me to identify players. I am happy because management has promised to continue supporting the team,” Pofera said.

Director of Sports (students)-Bunda campus Halima Chigawa said the games fostered the relationship among students.

“The games brought us together and it was a good platform for interaction,” she said.

At the end of the games, Bunda campus defeated NRC campus 2-1 in men’s football. Gregory Kavalo, who is also the captain of the Luanar’s main team, scored a brace whereas Samuel Chisi netted the consolation for NRC campus.

Last week, Luanar defeated Super League side TN Stars 3-1 in a friendly.

The games attracted students from all the Luanar campuses including Natural Resources College.

NRC campus emerged champions in basketball and women’s football.

Students competed in sporting codes such as football, netball, basketball, weightlifting and pool
