Lucius is light! Part 1

With Richard Chirombo:

Whichever way one looks at it, there is nothing bad about being a Lucius.

I mean, even when one plays around with the name Lucius— to come up with, say, Luscious— the answer still turns out positive.

Let us look at it this way. If one plays around with the name Lucius, to come up with Luscious, the meaning is still positive— for Luscious means highly pleasing to the taste or smell.

That is why, in countless dictionaries, one comes across words such as luscious peaches, luscious style, luscious furnishings.

Now, who does not want to be associated with good things like these? I will give you the answer shortly.

Then, there is the word Lucius, which history teaches us to be a male-given name from a Latin word that means “light”.

You see, again. Only positives can be associated with the name Lucius.

Oh, dear mama, why did you not call me Lucius? Ha! Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!H a!Ha!Ha!Ha!

When I was doing my research, I came across the following, in reference to Lucius: “Lucius (Greek: Λούκιος Loukios; Etruscan: Luvcie) is a male given name derived from Lucius (abbreviated L.), one of the small group of common Latin forenames (praenomina) found in the culture of ancient Rome. Lucius derives from Latin word Lux”.

There we go!

Therefore, it must be good to be Lucius, even when one – I mean, a Lucius— loses an election; parliamentary election to be precise.

As I asked, earlier, who does not want to be associated with good things? The answer is simple: Those who live in Balaka District!

I mean, in the elections that are past – the past being as recent as May 21 2019— people of Balaka North so hated the ‘light’ that they took the other way. Yes, they let a Lucius of the hook-of-their-development plans.

And yet to be Lucius, or associated with Lucius or Luscious, is to be positive or associated with positives.

But, then, Lucius being Lucius, he took it all well: like, on the chin.

He even joked at the prospect of being out of the august House – we write august House, and not August house or August House as some confused people put it down! Write [and not ‘say’] ‘after’ me: august House! Ha!Ha!Ha! Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha! Ha!Ha!— for the next five years.

I mean, mpaka anayitanitsa chipepeso [Lucius went to the extent of jokingly asking for compensation packages such as whisky etc.] Ha!Ha! Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!H a!Ha!Ha!].

There can only be light in a Lucius!
