Lucky Malata eyes Silver Strikers return

Be Forward Wanderers defender, Lucky Malata, is on the verge of returning to his former club Silver Strikers following the expiry of his three-year deal at Lali Lubani Road.
Both Malata and Silver newly appointed chief executive officer, Thokozani Chimbali, confirmed the talks about the impending move were at an advanced stage.
Malata said he met Chimbali and the club’s board chairperson, Victor Madhlopa, to discuss his return to the club he left some three years ago.
“I don’t want to comment much as discussions are still on going. Just check with me by this weekend as we might finalise the discussions,” said Malata who has an option to extend his contract at the Nomads.
Chimbali confirmed that Malata wanted a return to Silver but declined to shed more light on the matter, saying he was yet to start speaking on behalf of the club.
“I am yet to start speaking on behalf of Silver. But it’s true that he wants to come back,” Chimbali said.
Meanwhile, Wanderers team manager, Victor Maunde, confirmed that Malata’s contract has expired but was quick to state that they were eager to renew it.
“Indeed Malata’s contract has expired and I am sure that once we are through with the elections we will start talking about players’ contracts. But all in all Malata is a national material player and it would be important to keep him,” Maunde said.
Meanwhile, Mandlopa said Silver will sign new players to strengthen the squad for the 2020 season.
He said the Central Bankers will release about 10 players to create room for the new signings.
“We have a big squad and we need to trim it and at the same time we need good players that will help us this forthcoming season,” Mandlopa said.
Silver have started preparations for the 2020 season with the hiring of a new technical panel headed by Zambian Dan Kabwe.
