Lucky Malata recalled
Former Flames captain Lucky Malata has been recalled to the team ahead of the Cosafa Castle Cup games kicking off this weekend in Rustenburg, South Africa.
Malata is among six players that have been called to beef up the squad.
This follows the absence of eight foreign-based players who have been denied a chance to represent their country by their clubs in Mozambique and South Africa.
Other players called into camp to replace the eight are Brighton Munthali, Chisomo Mpachika, Binwell Katinji, Levison Maganizo (all Silver Strikers), Ian Chinyama (Premier Bet Wizards) and Khuda Muyaba of Moyale Barracks.
Flames Team Manager, James Sangala, confirmed the development saying they had no option but to select players from local teams.
“We regrouped on Monday with some new faces in the squad. Of course, this will affect our plans as the coach wanted the foreign-based players at the tournament to continue implementing his philosophy. But all in all, everything is in order and the team will leave on Thursday (tomorrow),” Sangala said.
Sangala said he was confident that the Flames would lift the cup for the first time after reaching the finals on two occasions.
