Former TP Mazembe FC forward, Luka Milanzi, is on the verge of signing a two-year deal with Mozambique league side, Desportivo de Nacala, as he aims to revive his football career.

Blue Eagles released Milanzi last week after falling under the pecking order at the Lilongwe-based club.

But a window of opportunity has opened for the former Escom United and Be Forward Wanderers attacker.

In an interview from Mozambique, Milanzi confirmed that he was trying his luck with Nacala.

“At the moment, I have not signed a deal with them. I will let you know once everything is done,” Milanzi said.

Local coach Andrew Chikhosi said Mozambique’s Mocambola League could offer Milanzi a chance to regain his scoring form.

“He was one of the best players for Malawi during his generation but, suddenly, he lost his touch. If he works hard, he would be able to score more goals in Mozambique,” he said.

Milanzi signed for the Democratic Republic of Congo giants, Mazembe, in 2010 but struggled to make an impact and he was loaned out to Zesco United of Zambia for a season.

He captained Malawi under-17 national football team that participated in the Africa Youth Championship in Algeria in 2009 and World Youth Championship in Nigeria in 2010.

He crossed the floor when he joined Nyasa Big Bullets from Wanderers in 2016 but failed to hit top form and he was loaned out to Masters Security FC.

Milanzi won the TNM Super League Golden Boot Award when he netted 17 goals, alongside Chikondi Mpulula [ex- Blue Eagles] in 2010.
