Celebrated musician and producer Lulu left yesterday for United States of America (USA) where he is expected to perform at a Black Tie Charity event in South Bend on April 1 2023.

The singer and guitarist, famed for tracks such as ‘N’zalera’ and ‘Kumalembe’, has been invited by Hats and Tea Inc.

“Being the first time to perform in United States of America, I am excited. Let me say it again that this is a step ahead in my music career. This is a country where music happens and this is where people we looked up to were born and live,” he said.

Lulu said he was looking forward to contributing to what he has learnt over the years to Americans and Malawians living in USA.

“We need these opportunities if we are to grow. I will be performing to a different audience but it will not be Lulu but rather Lulu from Malawi and, so, I am happy to represent Malawi,” he said.

Lulu last year launched a new album titled One More Time.

In another development, poet Q Malewezi has postponed the launch of his album titled Son of A Preacher’s Son which was set to be held at Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe on April 1 2023 due to the natural disaster of Cyclone Freddy that has led to loss of life and property.

“We have decided to postpone the album launch to a later date in order to help with various relief efforts. A new date will be announced after further consultations with our partners,” Q said in a statement.
