Lulu has released a new single titled ‘Tikhulukileni’, recorded at his Mathumela Studio in Lilongwe.

The singer, guitarist and producer said yesterday he wants to do more for the people during this time when many have lost hope.

“Music plays a crucial role in such hard times and, so, I will be releasing songs of hope just to bring smiles to those who are hopeless but also take time bring entertainment to the homes in the absence of live performances at the moment,” Lulu real name Lawrence Khwisa said.

The new song comes barely a week after the artist also released a tribute to legendary musician Wambali Mkandawire.

The tribute saw him utilising Minister of Information Gospel Kazako’s tribute poem to Wambali and then rework on a song.

“In the song as the title reads ‘Tikhulukireni’, I am just asking God to forgive us and also protect us from Covid. The song is more like a prayer,” Lulu said.

The ‘N’zalera star said the message in the track stems from the message in the Bible, particularly the book of Chronicles.

“Apart from the tribute I have done for Wambali, I would say this is my first song this year and more singles are coming in these hard times,” the artist said.

Last year, Lulu released a number of singles, some of which were projects with different organisations aimed at bringing awareness on different issues affecting the society.

Lulu could not come out clear as to whether the singles he is releasing are a sign that he is working on a new album.

The artist, who has won the hearts of many with his music, has collaborated with several acts.

He has six albums to his credit so far and they include Mbambande, Kumalembe, Sindilora, Ndakudziwa, Mwayenera and Better in Your Arms.

Lulu recently also starred in a show ‘Sorry for Covid’ organised by Gwamba.
