Lulu stars at Sadc banquet

Singer and guitarist Lulu on Tuesday night spiced up the Southern African Development Community (Sadc) heads of State banquet.
The ‘Kumalembe’ star, with his four member band which included saxophonist Dan Sibale, impressed with their set.
The performance also won Lulu the hearts of many people on social media as he offered mature sound that also underlined the fact that he is arguably among the best artists the country has ever produced.
He melted hearts with his voice and also showed the best of his tone on the guitar.
Lulu, who has six albums to his credit namely Mbambande, Kumalembe, Sindilora, Ndakudziwa, Mwayenera and Better in Your Arms, said it was a special night for him to perform for heads of State.
“It was a great feeling. We need these moments for heads of State to appreciate our talent. It’s been great so far for the creative sector because different artistic disciplines have come out to show what Malawi is made of at the 41st Sadc Summit,” Lulu said.
He said his performance was also good in terms of reaching out to a different audience.
“Most of the times we do not get such opportunities but I have proved that we are there to perform for everyone including the corporate sector and government. It is also a call to the government not to pay a blind eye to the creative sector, there is potential and what is needed is support and resources,” he said.
Lulu also said he got excited when President Emmerson Mnangagwa requested for Oliver Mtukudzi’s song ‘Todii’.
