Lulu to launch 5th album in Blantyre next month

After successfully launching his fifth album Mwayenera at Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe on May 1, 2016, youthful artist Lulu has said he will launch the album in Blantyre on June 30.

The launch will be held at Comesa Hall.

The singer and guitarist disclosed this on Wednesday during a cheque presentation of K250,000 from Printer Systems in Lilongwe.

Printer Systems were the highest bidders during the auctioning of the CD during the launch in Lilongwe.

“I am thankful to Printer Systems for their support which I do not take for granted. The money they have given to me will go a long way towards helping me in my preparations for the launch in Blantyre on June 30, 2016,” said Lulu.

He called on companies and other well wishers to emulate the gesture shown by Printer Systems by supporting artists in their different projects.

“As artists we cannot do it on our own, we need support from the corporate world, the government and other stakeholders. This support basically motivates us to go on and produce quality work and that is what I have just done in my new album,” said the artist.

Lulu recently also performed in United Kingdom alongside Skeffa Chimoto and Dan Lufani.

“United Kingdom was so caring and it is another level. Basically as local artists we need to tell our stories because the audience there wanted us to give them something which we grew up with and not copyright work,” said Lulu real name Lawrence Khwitsa.

Lulu said with the support he received in Lilongwe he is anticipating the same in Blantyre.

“I had a meeting with my team soon after the launch in Lilongwe just to see the positives and the negatives. We are heading the right direction and there is a wide platform for Lulu and Mathumela Band,” he said.

Some quarters said during the launch that the musician compromised on his CDs which were supposed to be well packaged.

But Lulu said as artists they always strive to bring out the best starting from live performances and products.

“We dream to come out with better things but sometimes it becomes tough especially when you do not have enough resources. I tried my level best to have quality CDs on the ground unfortunately I could not do what America does,” he said.
