Lulu unveiled GOtv ambassador
GOtv Malawi on Saturday unveiled musician Lawrence Khwisa commonly known as Lulu as the brand ambassador for a contract period of a year.
GOtv Malawi Country Sales Manager, Vyness Simbi, said they were excited to have Lulu as their ambassador, adding that this will give the company an opportunity to bring the brand closer to the people but also support the talent.
“As Gotv Malawi, we want to market our brand and bring it closer to the people but also at the same we want to promote talent in the country through Lulu. With his dexterity on the guitar and powerful voice, we believe he will connect well with the go-getters,” Simbi said.
During the unveiling ceremony which took place at Area 23 in Lilongwe, Simbi said the company would also like to promote talent locally.
Lulu said he will carry the brand through his music supported by his Mathumela Band.
He also said that he will use his ambassadorial powers to engage the youths and encourage them to help develop the country.
“I am going to promote this brand through my music. This also will give me an opportunity to reach out to the youths through my band, who have the talent,” he said.
Meanwhile, MultiChoice Malawi Sales and Marketing Manager, Chimwemwe Nyirenda, said in a press statement that Lulu will be featured in various GOtv Malawi campaigns in print, radio and television further revealing that he has already produced a theme song which will be used in their advertisement.
“Music has always been a powerful tool in bringing communities, family and brands together. The signing of Lulu as our ambassador will give us the opportunity to bring the GOtv brand closer to Malawians,” Nyirenda said.
He said in May this year, they also had a priviledge of working with the artist when they invited him as a guest performer during a media tour at Kungoni in Dedza to celebrate Africa Day.
Nyirenda said GOtv on its part, will give Lulu a GOtv set with 12 months subscription during the duration of the contract, help him during his music shows, sponsor albums he is going to produce and that above all they will give him an attractive once off remuneration package for the contract for his talent.
The other previous GOtv ambassadors are netballer Sindie Simtowe and musician Skeffa Chimoto
