LULU—It has been some time since I performed in Blantyre

After hosting a number of artists including legendary poet Benedicto Wokoma-atani Malunga, Faith Mussa and saxophonist Dan Sibale, it is now time for Lulu to show his magic on the acoustic set this Sunday at HS Winehouse in Blantyre.

The singer and guitarist makes a long trip from Lilongwe to Blantyre to entertain people.

The ‘Mbambande’ and ‘N’zalera’ creator said Thursday he was ready for the acoustic set that will see him performing as a solo act without his Mathumela Band.

“It’s been some time since I performed in Blantyre and so I am ready. We, as artists, haven’t been performing because of a ban on gatherings and now that the situation is normalizing, things are starting to open up,” he said.

The break due to Covid has seen Lulu dropping some singles in order to bring smiles to people as they battle the pandemic.

HS Winehouse Publicist Emmanuel Maliro said they are trying to give people a variety of artists in order to offer the best of entertainment.

“This weekend we have Lulu and we are priviledged to have him. We are also trying as much to be pairing a big artist with an up and coming. So apart from Lulu, we also have Ufa Wa Mtedza Vibrations,” Maliro said.

He said they were thankful for the support they have received so far since they started hosting the arts activities.

“We will continue to adhere to strict Covid measures and we are talking of less than 50 patrons. It is all about taking off stress and music or arts activities are medicine to that,” Maliro said.
