M-Theatre to host E-Wallet BT shows
The E-Wallet Talent Blantyre shows including the launch on October 24 will be held at M-Theatre at Chichiri Shopping Mall.
Both E-Wallet organisers and M-Theatre confirmed the development Wednesday.
E-Wallet Talent Show Coordinator Anthony Kafuwa said in their quest to improve quality of the show they decided to be holding all their Blantyre shows at M-Theatre formally Cine Cinema following the signing of the deals on Tuesday.
“We have signed a deal with M-Theatre formally Cine Cinema which is situated at Chichiri Shopping Mall to be holding all our Blantyre shows and this includes the launch on October 24,” said Kafuwa.
He described the venue as small but he said it is convenient with ample and secure parking.
“It’s something small, but we feel it’s convenient with ample and secure parking. Above all we want to achieve high quality production. It’s strictly all seated and we are looking at this number as studio audience and has a maximum of 300,” said Kafuwa.
M-Theatre proprietor Maya Jere said the place has two auditoriums and that they decided to be holding different shows in the other auditorium.
“You may recall that this place used to be called Cine Cinema but then it was closed two years ago. It was a hub of movies where people used to come and watch movies. We noticed a very big gap in terms of offering entertainment after its closure and that is why we decided to take over so as to offer the much needed entertainment,” said Jere.
She said the other auditorium will be specifically for movies while the other will be used for shows.
“For the movie side, we will come back to you to talk more on it otherwise there is more coming but for the other auditorium we will be holding shows, people are free to hire and hold different private functions and this starts in October and the first show is the E-Wallet Talent Show,” said Jere.
The organisers of the E-Wallet Talent Show formerly Sunbird Search for a Star have been hosting the Blantyre shows at Sunbird Mount Soche Hotel in the past years.
The E-Wallet Talent show organisers recently held auditions in the cities of Mzuzu, Lilongwe and Blantyre where they picked 14 contestants. In Mzuzu they picked two with Lilongwe and Blantyre five and nine respectively.
The winner of this year’s contest is expected to walk away with a Nissan Tiida worth K3 million.
Meanwhile Kafuwa has said apart from the show being screened on MBC, Times TV and Zodiak Brodacasting Station(ZBS), it will also be beamed on Joy and Luso TVs as well as MTV.
He also said that with the launch taking place in Blantyre, the grand finale will be held in Lilongwe.
