Visual artist and filmmaker Elson Kambalu has finally revealed that the screenings of his movie Mlandu Wa Njinga/Case of A Bicycle will be held at M Theatre.
Kambalu has been on a search for proper venues in Blantyre for film screenings but he has now settled for M Theatre formerly Cine Cinema at Shoprite Shopping Mall.
“We have two screenings at M Theatre. The first one is on May 27 and then another one the following Saturday,” said the filmmaker.
Kambalu said he was looking forward to the best during the screenings in Blantyre just as it was the case during the premiere in Lilongwe.
The filmmaker recently also said that he would like to do more in the film industry and that he was eyeing international film festivals.
The recipient of the 2015 Art Award in the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) Innovations Award, Kambalu said film is an area that has given him the platform to reach out to more people.
“Film is a complete form of art and it encompasses a lot of things and in Mlandu Wa Njinga I had a chance to put in other art forms in the movie such as painting and music,” he said.
Kambalu worked with musicians such as JJ, Agorosso, Malala and Jaco Jana in the movie.
Mlandu Wa Njinga is a feature length fictitious movie which runs for two hours and tells the story of a young man called Ntaja, who comes out of prison and later goes on a search for a woman he wanted to marry prior to his incarceration.
