Macdonald Mtetemera relieved

Former Dwangwa United coach, Macdonald Mtetemera, has said he is relieved that, weeks after his suspension, the team’s management dismissed him last Thursday.

“I am happy that the team has dismissed me so that I can see what to do next. I am happy because I did not fail at Dwangwa. I achieved what I came there for, which was to make sure the team remains in the league. Some team officials had personal vendetta against me, hence the decision to fire me,” Mtetemera said.

He said Dwangwa’s four-game losing streak in his absence vindicate him that he was not the problem.

“Since I was suspended, the team has played four games and lost all while conceding 14 goals and scoring once. Should we say these bad results are because of me?” Mtetemera queried.

Nevertheless, the former Blackpool, Azam Tigers, Escom United, Chilomoni Rangers and Prison United coach said it was his prayer that Dwangwa should survive relegation.

Dwangwa General Secretary, Samson Zimba, said they decided to part ways with Mtetemera after a review of his performance indicated that he has not performed. Technical Director, Lloyd Nkhwazi, will remain the team’s interim coach.
