Dwangwa United Coach Macdonald Mtetemera’s future at the TNM Super League club hangs in the balance.
Mtetemera’s one-year contract with Dwangwa expires this month, but the team’s Executive Committee is yet to decide on him.
Reports indicate that some officials, players and supporters do not want the coach’s contract renewed.
Sources said the coach is being accused of having too much power and that his relationship with some players was sour.
Dwangwa’s General Secretary, Samson Zimba, was non-committal on their position on Mtetemera.
“There is nothing on the table regarding the coach’s contract but we will be meeting very soon where a decision on the future of the coach will be made,” Zimba said.
Mtetemera said he wants to stay put at the club, but it is the executive committee that has a final say.
“It depends on what we will agree with the executive, otherwise I have formed a good team which I would love to maintain,” he said.
“I am not aware that some quarters do not want my contract renewed. If they are saying that, then I am ready to go home and start farming.”
Mtetemera, who achieved his target of ensuring Dwangwa’s survival in the league in the 2016 season, had a torrid time at the club mid last season when he was suspended after some of his players rebelled against him.
