Former Flames on-field leader Peter Mponda has incorporated former teammates MacDonald Yobe and Fundi Akidu in his technical panel for the newly-registered TNM Super League side FISD Wizards FC, formerly Surestream FC.

Mponda, who now owns the youthful side after cutting ties with Surestream Academy, confirmed the development.

“I have known MacDonald and Fundi for quite some time apart from playing together with them during our time at Big Bullets and I feel they are up and coming coaches who can add value to the team,” said Mponda.

Mponda has also dropped the technical director post he was holding at Surestream FC to be at par with both Yobe and Akidu.

“It was only a title, but I want my workmates to be free when discharging their duties even in my absence, so I will humbly be the same as them,” he said.

Both Yobe and Akidu confirmed that they had accepted to work with Mponda.

“He (Mponda) took me on board as a member of the technical panel when the team earned promotion into the Super League and I already familiarised with the players as well as the whole set up of the team, so am not new in the system, but am looking forward to helping him build a good team”, said Akidu.

Akidu will also be doubling as the team manager, a similar post he held at Big Bullets.

Yobe, meanwhile, has also bid farewell to Southern Region Football League’s Premier Division heavyweights Blantyre United where he was the head coach..

“I can’t wait for the challenge because it’s my first time to get involved with a Super League team and I believe I have something that I can share with Peter and Fundi,” he said.

Mponda said the team’s management will also meet soon to discuss on the ground to use as its home.
