After being placed on seven-day quarantine, Madalitso Band is finally off the hook and has since started gigs in France.
The Lilongwe-based group left recently for France on a tour which will see them holding close to 35 gigs.
The band – a duo of Yosefe Kalekeni and Yobu Maligwa and co-manager Neil Nayar— said Thursday they have so far held four shows.
“So far so good, we are happy to have started shows and we are looking forward to offering more and selling Malawi as usual,” Kalekeni said.
Nayar said the first week of the shows has been successful.
“It’s tiring already but all is good. The first week is done but next five weeks will be very intense,” he said.
The group was supposed to leave earlier for the tour but delayed because they did not receive their passports in time as their visas were issued in South Africa.
Due to the delay, they missed the first four shows but Nayar said they were not worried since more gigs would be added.
Among other places, Madalitso is set to perform in Lille, Lyon and Nantes and will be back in August.
