Madalitso Band return this month

Lilongwe-based group— Madalitso Band, the duo of Yosefe Kalekeni and Yobu Maligwa, is expected to return home later this month.
The group left the country in June for a tour of over 30 gigs.
Co-manager Neil Nayar, who is with the group, said recently that it has been a great experience performing in different places in France despite going late due to visa delays.
Nayar also said that, due to the pandemic, many African bands cancelled their tours.
“It’s been great but very different this time, especially with the pandemic. We have played in biggest concerts and smaller shows and the band has excited people,” he said.
Nayar said many bands from Africa, which were supposed to tour, did not make it.
“We are thankful to Luc Deschamps for making it possible for us to travel to France. The support has been great and, on top of that, we have sold CDs,” Nayar said.
The band left the country after releasing their new track titled ‘Katangale’, a song that speaks against corruption.
The band had to go on quarantine before starting shows.
Among other places, Madalitso has had performances in Lille, Paris, Toulouse and Nantes.
Emmanuel Kamwenje, who is co-manager, said the group is expected back on August 14 and that they will hold their last round of concerts this weekend.
