Madalitso Band, the duo of Yosefe Kalekeni and Yobu Maligwa has wound up their fifth European tour which saw them hold over 40 gigs.
The group from the outskirts of Mtandire in Lilongwe finished their last shows in United Kingdom where they also had a chance to be interviewed by BBC Radio 3.
Co-Manager Neil Nayar said Wednesday the group was expected back on Monday but they missed their flight.
“Everything is done, the duo has had a successful tour and they have sold Malawi to the world with their local music. I will remain in UK for a while just to see family but the boys were supposed to be there on Monday but missed their flight,” Nayar said.
As of Wednesday, Nayar said they were trying to sort out the duo’s tickets.
“It is not our fault but the other side. We were issued with new tickets and this was not sorted out in the computer but they should be in their flight today (Wednesday) or tomorrow,” he said.
Armed with the acoustic guitar and one-stringed guitar known as Babatoni, Madalitso Band left the country last month and apart from United Kingdom, they also had performances in France and Switzerland.
Their European tour also saw Madalitso Band drop a new album Musakayike which was released via Bongo Joe and featured by www.folkradio.co.uk.
Madalitso Band’s previous albums are Fungo La Nyemba and Wasalala.
