Mafco FC deny firing coach
Mafco FC’s top official has denied reports that they are contemplating replacing Coach, Thomas Maloya, with former mentor Temwa Msuku.
Msuku left the team in 2012 and now reports are rife that he was set for a return.
Some players confirmed Msuku’s imminent return.
But the team’s Chairperson, Peter Ng’oma, parried the reports linking Msuku with a return to the Salima team.
“The decision to hire or fire a coach is made at Army Headquarters by the Director of Training so we have not been communicated about the news and our coach is still Mr Maloya,” Ng’oma said.
Msuku could neither deny nor confirm the reports, saying he had not been officially communicated.
“I have also heard about these reports but if it is true then I will wait for official communication,” said Msuku who is now based at Mafco in Salima.
He said the team was expected to start pre-season training yesterday.
Msuku helped Mafco earn TNM Super League promotion in 2009.
Under his tenure, the team also reached the final of Presidential Cup in 2011 where they lost to Be Forward Wanderers before he paved the way for Stereo Gondwe.
