Mafco hire Pritchard Mwansa

Mafco have appointed Pritchard Mwansa as coach, replacing Stereo Gondwe who was relieved of his duties due to poor results recently.

Until his appointment, Mwansa was Moyale Barracks assistant coach.

Mafco vice chairperson Cedrick Chisale said they are pleased to have struck a deal with Mwansa.

“It is a done deal. We are just waiting to finalise other logistics. The coach has vast experience and we believe he will make an instant impact,’’ Chisale said.

He said the developments means caretaker coach Ladwel Mbetewa has reverted to his previous role of assistant trainer. Chisale said Jimmy Mzunga and Iddrisa Walesi have also been maintained as trainee coaches.

Mwansa has a huge task to turn things around at the Salima-based Malawi Defence Force side after its dismal start to the 2023 season.

His first assignment could be against rookies Extreme FC in a TNM Super League encounter at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota, Saturday.

Mwansa was in charge at Moyale until recently when coach Nicholas Mhango returned from military assignments.

Mafco are 14th on the log table with four points from five matches.
