MaiKhanda donates to Ntchisi District Hospital
MaiKhanda Trust, one of the non-governmental organisations working towards safe motherhood in the country, has reaffirmed its commitment towards the improvement of health care in the country by donating some equipment to Ntchisi District Hospital.
The donated items included one generator and delivery kits all valued to K4.6 million.
Speaking on Tuesday at Ntchisi District Hospital during the donation of the items, MaiKhanda head of programmes, Edward Moses, said the organisation moved to make the donation after noting problems at the hospital such as electricity outage and inadequate medical supplies at the district referral facility.
He said MaiKhanda started working in the district in 2014 and made the donation courtesy of funding from Comic Relief.
“At first the District Health Office had one small power back-up generator which was working in more than one department but on shift and we decided to buy the generator for the hospital to use when there is no electricity,” said Moses.
Ntchisi district hospital principal administrator, John Bosco Baluti, commended MaiKhanda for the donation.
“I would like to commend MaiKhanda for blessing us in this way and would like to assure them that the generator will be taken care of and used for its purpose and the delivery kits will be used properly in the maternity ward,” he said.
