Maize lorry overturns in Nkhata Bay
A 55-year-old driver on Easter Monday last week survived a road traffic accident when the lorry he was driving overturned at around 14:00 hours at Luwazi along the Mzuzu-Nkhata Bay road.
Police have identified the driver as Philemon Msiska from Kondazimu village in Chief Kabunduli’s area in Nkhata Bay.
Msiska was driving an AF Ashok Leyland government lorry MG 510 which was carrying 300 bags of maize.
An eye witness disclosed that the vehicle which was coming from Mzuzu going to Nkhata Bay overturned after the driver failed to control it while descending a slope.
“The vehicle hit road embankment and it overturned,” said the witness.
Following the impact, the vehicle’s cab was extensively damaged.
