Malawians will now have a chance to watch how the beach soccer national team played at the recent Cosafa tournament in Seychelles.
Supersport will beam a repeat of the games this evening, Cosafa has announced.
Cosafa chief executive, Sue Destombes, said the one hour programme would feature games played during the tournament.
“Kindly be advised that the one hour programme on the Cisafa Beach Soccer tournament in Seychelles which was filmed by Supersport, will Premier this Friday, 1st May on SuperSport select channel 210 at 19hours. The show will also air on SuperSport Select Africa,” Destombes said.
Destombes said Cosafa would also distribute copies of the programme to member associations.
“In addition, we have requested SuperSport to make copies of the programme for each of the participating associations and these will be ready next week,” she said.
“We will therefore give a DVD copy to each of your delegations travelling to South Africa for the Cosafa Cup.”
Malawi took part in the inaugural Cosafa beach soccer tournament that was held from April 9-11 and put up an impressive performance to finish as runners up.
Madagascar won the tournament that had six nations including United Arab Emirates as guest nation.
Cosafa has since proposed Malawi as the next host of beach soccer tournament.
“They made a proposal that we should host the next tournament but it will depend on the decision by Cosafa executive. Malawi stands a better chance to host the tournament because we have good facilities along the lake shores,” said James Mwenda, who was the leader of Malawi delegation.
For Malawi to host the event the country needs at least K50 million to carter for accommodation, food and internal travel of participating teams according to Mwenda.
“The host nation is responsible for all internal expenses such as transport, food and accommodation. We can manage to host the tournament by engaging stakeholders such as those in the tourism sector and sports,” he added.
