Malawi International Theatre Festival postponed

National Theatre Association of Malawi (Ntam) has postponed the inaugural Malawi International Theatre Festival which was expected to be held from December 1 to 4 2022.
Ntam Publicity Secretary Fumbani Phiri confirmed the development Monday, saying, following consultations; they decided to postpone the festival to March next year.
“We had several issues on the ground. For instance, we did not manage to raise the targeted funds, in relation to our budget, and some stakeholders promised to support us later. As such, pushing it to March was the only option,” Phiri said.
He also said that the weekend of December 1 to 4 2022 is eventful.
“We want a weekend when there is sanity, in terms of events, hence settling for next year. We do not want to be robbed of the audience but we are serious about holding a memorable festival,” he said.
Phiri apologised to theatre lovers for the 11th hour change and inconvenience but was quick to say that the postponement would help the association hold an unforgettable festival.
