Malawi International Trade Fair starts Wednesday

The 29th Malawi International Trade Fair will start Wednesday, at the Chichiri Trade Fair Grounds, in Blantyre.

The fair will officially be opened by President Peter Muntharika and will run till June 3, 2017.

The theme for this year’s fair is “Productivity: A source of export competitiveness” which aims to enhance productivity and boost local exports.

The Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI), who are organisers of the fair, said exhibitors are urged to highlight the need to tackle issue of productivity and a foundation for achieving export competitiveness.

MCCCI Chief Operating Officer, Chimwemwe Luhanga, said this year’s fair has several programmes that have been lined up to enhance interaction among the exhibitors.

“We shall have special days set aside for different ambassadors and high commissioners to come and visit the Trade Fair and appreciate what both our local and international companies have come to showcase. This will be from the 25th to the 27th of May 2017,” he said.

Luhanga further said the confederation is arranging business-to-business meetings which will be scheduled accordingly to allow smooth discussions on possible business deals between various companies throughout the fair.

He also said business workshops have also been organised to allow exhibitors, members of private sector and potential buyers to learn more from some of the services which are being offered by various institutions.
