Malawi International Trade Fair

More Indian firms to come for next Malawi International Trade Fair

India’s High Commissioner to Malawi has said he will lobby for more Indian companies to attend next year’s Malawi International Trade Fair (MITF).

Suresh Kumar Menon said this after a tour of pavilions at the ongoing trade fair in Blantyre.

Menon said he was impressed with the organisation of the fair by the Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) and that Malawi has opportunities that can benefit Indian business people.

“I am impressed with the organisation here. This gives me encouragement to invite more companies from India to showcase their products during next year’s trade fair,” he said.

Menon said India is interested in a number of sectors in the country especially the agriculture and energy sectors.

He said Malawian companies also stand to benefit a lot from their Indian counterparts.

“We would want to see improved trade between our countries and the trade fair offers a platform for business people to interact and share ideas,” Menon said.

The 29th Malawi International Trade Fair is being held under the theme, “Productivity, Source of Export Competitiveness”.

The fair has attracted six foreign countries and over 200 exhibitors.
