The 2022 Professional Golf Association (PGA) Malawi championship will take place from May 26 to 28 at Lilongwe Golf Club.
PGA Vice President Patridge Shycal announced this week that registration had commenced.
“We have received overwhelming response from the golfers. It is our hope that we will host another successful event this year,’’ Shycal said.
Several local and foreign golfers have already confirmed their participation in the event.
Malawi’s highly rated golfers Paul Chidale, Adam Sailesi and Victor Kachepatsonga have also registered.
The three local golfers are expected to take part in the Zimbabwe open, which will start tomorrow at Royal Harare and Chapman golf clubs.
Chidale said he would use the Zimbabwe open to prepare for the Malawi tour.
“It will be busy weeks for me but I am ready for the challenge,’’ Chidale, who has participated in several international tournaments in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Uganda, said.
Shycal, Roy Da Costa, Cosmas Mweniwawo, Canaan Paul, Moses Simon and George Chisambo are some of Malawian golfers who will take part in the championship.
The tournament will also attract top Zambian golfers, namely Sydney Wemba, Aaron Musonda and Gabriel Chibale.
Nyasha Muyambo, Simon Katembenuka,Visitor Mapwanya, Tangoona Charamba and Robson Saulombe (all from Zimbabwe) have also registered for the tournament.
