Malawi Queens’ camp ideal— Mwawi Kumwenda
Australia’s Melbourne Vixens shooter, Mwawi Kumwenda, has said Malawi national netball team must utilise its forthcoming camp training so as to restore the Queens’ battered image.
The shooter was reacting to Netball Association of Malawi’s (Nam) announcement that the Queens would camp on March 5 to prepare for the Commonwealth Games set for Australia in April.
“We need to start our preparations in good time and focus on the forthcoming games. We need to be fit so as to realise our dream,” she responded through her Manager Hlupikire Chalamba’s Whats-App message.
The Queens will take part in Quad Series set for Auckland, New Zealand, where the hosts, Jamaica and Fiji will also compete before the Games.
Meanwhile, Mwawi has commented on Australia’s Suncorp Super Netball League, which will throw off after the Commonwealth Games.
“We are very prepared and we have won two pre-season games. I am ready for this season and yearning for the title,” she said.
Last year, Mwawi endured a bitter-sweet relationship with Nam after she was dropped from Fast5 Netball World Series before she was recalled for test matches against England.
