Malawi Queens’ coach not promising moon
Malawi National Netball Team, the Queens’ Coach, Griffin Saenda, says fans should not expect anything out of the ordinary from him, but a continuation of his legacy.
Saenda said that he does not have a magic wand to bring out unusual results from the team, but just some enhancements to help the Queens achieve greater things.
“I am not new to the team and I cannot promise something out of this world, but just to let the fans know that I will continue from where I left and endeavour to put some add-ons,” Saenda said.
On the forthcoming Fast5 Netball World Series that the Queens are expected to participate in this month, Saenda said his target was a top-four position of the International Netball Federation (INF) world ranking.
“It was embarrassing that we surrendered our number five position. I am aiming for the team to move up the world ranking by either one or two spots,” he said.
He also said current players in his squad should brace for tougher training sessions.
However, the coach said he was in the dark about the actual day which the Queens will go into camp.
Netball Association of Malawi General Secretary, Carol Bapu, was unable to shade more light on the training schedule.
The Queens are expected to leave for Hisense Arena, Melbourne, Australia to participate in the competition.
