Malawi netball Queens over the weekend Saturday failed to show up at a party which was organised specifically for them at Mibawa Cafe` in Blantyre.
The party’s organisers, Nd’efeyo Entertainment said the party was meant to welcome the Malawi Queens from their recent Netball World Cup participation in Australia where they got position six.
Nd’efeyo Entertainment Director Khumbo Munthali said they would have loved to have the Malawi Queens during the party as it was part of fundraising for them.
Some quarters had it that the Malawi Queens failed to show up to the party due to poor communication from the organisers but Munthali denied this, saying they made all the formal communication.
He added that they were told by Nam that the Malawi Queens failed to attend the party because of matters beyond their control.
When contacted to comment on why the Malawi Queens failed to show up at the party, Bapu said she could not comment on the issue.
Despite the Malawi Queens’s unavailability, the party took place but started late and saw Piksy and Blak Jak as headliners.
“Their failure to attend affected turn-up because some people went back as soon as they realised that the Malawi Queens were not there,” said Munthali.
The party, however, seems to have bore fruits as a representative from Sunfoil donated cartoons of cooking oil to the national team.
