Malawi Queens recover
Malawi National Netball Team recovered from Monday’s Africa Netball Championship nightmare against Uganda to thump Namibia 61-35 at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium in Kampala Tuesday.
Queens Coach, Griffin Saenda, made one change to the team that lost to Uganda.
Saenda handed Blue Eagles defender, Juliet Sambo, her first start in defence to replace Alinafe Kamwala who was given marching orders on Monday.
She partnered Joana Kachilika and Martha Dambo in defence.
The change also meant that Wezzie Mzemba-Msiska who had started the first two games, was dropped to the bench following injury concerns.
Centre player Thandie Galeta-Saenda and wing attacker Beatrice Mpinganjira were maintained to keep the supply lines open to shooter Joyce Mvula and goal attacker Jessica Mazengera-Sanudi.
Queens led the first quarter 17-10 before comfortably stretching the lead to 35-19 at half time.
In the third quarter, Queens continued pressurising to extend the lead to 48-31 before finishing the fourth quarter at 61-35.
Uganda are topping the tournament with six points from three games whereas Queens have four.
Queens face Zambia Wednesday with Uganda taking on Zimbabwe.
The games end tomorrow with the Queens locking horns with Botswana.
