Malawi Queens still sixth
Malawi netball Queens have barely maintained their sixth position on the 35-member world ranking table, which the International Netball Federation (INF) has released.
In Africa, the Queens, who have been inactive since last year, are second to rivals, South Africa’s Spar Proteas.
In reaction, Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) President, Rosy Chinunda, said she was worried by the Queens’ inactivity, saying this was contributing to the team’s stagnation on the ranking.
There are only seven ranked African teams on the list with Swaziland at the tail end on the continent and 30th in the world.
Argentina are the least ranked team in the world whereas Australia are number one.
The rankings are likely to change when the worlds’ best six teams participate in Fast5 Netball World Series to be held in New Zealand from October 29 to 30.
“The latest list has been updated on September 7 2016 and includes matches up to August 20 2016. The ranking list relates to senior teams of member countries that are playing regular international test matches,” reads www.netball.org
