Malawi Queens suffer Joyce Mvula blow
Manchester Thunder shooter, Joyce Mvula, has finally been ruled out of Malawi national netball team’s three Test Series against England due to visa delay.
Mvula has been replaced by Kukoma Diamonds’ shooter Alinafe Kamwala who has joined the Queens’ star Mwawi Kumwenda.
Mvula and Netball Association of Malawi General Secretary, Carol Bapu, confirmed the development.
The former Blue Eagles Sisters’ player said she was sad to miss the series.
“My work permit is not yet out so I won’t make it. I would have loved to be part of the team but circumstances didn’t allow. I wish my colleagues all the best during the games,” Mvula said.
Bapu, in a WhatsApp message, said they replaced Mvula with Kamwala after realising that her work permit would delay.
Mwawi and Kamwala left Thursday for the United Kingdom.
Bapu said they were keeping their fingers crossed on the availability of the pair for Friday night’s first match, between Malawi and England, set for Copper Box Arena.
The Queens’ next game against England is scheduled for Sunday at the same venue, followed by the last match at Genting Arena in Birmingham.
