South Africa’s award winning actress, Connie Chiume, best known for her starring role as Mamokete Khuse, in the e. tv soapie Rhythm City might feature in the country’s soapie Choices.
Chiume, who also starred in the Hollywood movie Black Panther has Malawian roots.
The soapie Choices, which airs on MBC TV, is written by actor and filmmaker, Ashukile Mwakisulu.
Both Mwakisulu and Chiume confirmed over the weekend they were in discussion on the issue of featuring in Choices for a few episodes.
“We are in discussion,” Chiume, who was in the country last month said.
Mwakisulu who has among others, starred in Shemu Joyah’s movie The Last Fishing Boat, said Chiume had assured him that she will appear in a few episodes.
“I was on the line with Connie Chiume. She has agreed to feature in a few episodes [Choices]. She will be here next month for holidays,” Mwakisulu said.
He, however, was quick to say that they were yet to finalise a few things but everything comes to fruition.
Last month Mwakisulu told The Daily Times that he had a fruitful time during the opening of the European Film Festival in Lilongwe where he met Chiume.
Chiume was the guest of honour during the festival which saw films from Malawi and Europe being screened.
The award-winning actress during her visit in the country last month, acknowledged the efforts the actors and filmmakers were doing to raise the profile of the film industry in the country.
