Mandevu Farm in Machinga celebrated Christmas Day in style by treating people to activities.

As nativity songs were playing on the day, people were served with lunch before sampling traditional dances.

Other activities that excited people on the day included dancing contest and games such as tug of war, egg, bottle and sack races.

There were rains but this did not stop Mandevu from giving people the best on the day as part of celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

A dance group from Machinga District – Storm Trooper—also entertained people on the day with their dance antics.

The group’s secretary Jossam Mario said they were looking forward to getting more access to plat forms to showcase their talents, adding that they were also targeting participating in Times Group’s Ka Jive Dance contest next year.

“We have been dancing for over three years now. We have the experience and want to do more,” Mario said.

The climax of the activities on the day was a Christmas disco, which offered another chance to people to dance and enjoy songs throughout the night.

Edwin Zawanda, who travelled all way from Matawale in Zomba, described the day as exciting.

“I enjoyed the music as well as the traditional dances. It’s been some time since I enjoyed traditional dances and to even enjoy them on Christmas Day, when we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ ,is special,” Zawanda said.

He hailed Mandevu Farm for organising the activities on Christmas Day.

Mandevu Farm Managing Director Meya Kalindekafe thanked people for patronising the event on Christmas Day.

“We organise different events during holidays. So, today we thought it wise to do the same and celebrate Christmas with different activities. We are also organising a similar event on New Year’s Eve,” Kalindekafe said.

Meanwhile, Kalindekafe has said that they will continue to expand Mandevu to satisfy people and that, from next year, people will have a chance to enjoy swimming as they will be opening a new swimming pool
