Mozambique League giants, Costa do Sol, have reached an agreement with TNM Super League side, Civil Sporting Club, to sign versatile attacking midfielder, Innocent Tanganyika, on a one-year deal from January.

Civil General Secretary, Ronald Chiwaula, Monday confirmed that the former Epac FC attacker— who can play as a winger or behind strikers—has signed a pre-contract with the Maputo club, weeks after they also signed other Malawians [Chawanangwa Kawonga and Matthews Sibale].

Mozambique is home to over 10 Malawian footballers, including Richard Mbulu, Idrisa Walesi, Dangalira Mnelemba, Moses Chavula, Sankhani Nyirenda, Simplex Nthala, Schumacher Kuwali, John and Frank Banda, Charles Swini and Zicco Mkanda.

“We have finalised the agreement. We are waiting for them [Costa do Sol] to give us the money for the transfer of the player. But he is going to Mozambiqueb with our blessings. As a club, we do not block players,” Chiwaula said, adding that the player will go at $5,000 (about K3.6 million. Civil have the first option of re-signing the player in the event that he wants to leave Costa do Sol after the expiry of the contract.

Civil Team Manager, Gabriel Chirwa, said Tanganyika was an important player for them.

“He was one of the players at the hub of our attacking machinery. We will miss him next season but we believe his career will grow in Mozambique,” he added.

Costa Team Manager, Autur Faria, Monday said after signing Mbulu, Kawonga and Sibale, they were no longer interested in more footballers from the Super League.

Reports suggest that Mbulu is heading to Portugal in January. Costa will play in the Caf Champions League next season, having finished second in the Mocambola League to champions, HCB Songo, of Frank Banda and Swini.
