Marketing students in the country have been challenged to be radical and work hard if they are to positively contribute to the growth of the industry.
The challenge was made in Blantyre on Friday during launch of the Malawi College of Accountancy (MCA) students’ Consortium of Marketers.
Addressing the students at MCA Blantyre Campus, Chartered Institute of Marketers (CIM) Malawi Board Member, Sungeni Madeira, said the students had a role to play in ensuring the industry contribution to the economy was improving.
Madeira said marketers had to think outside the box to identify and satisfy customers’ needs.
She also observed that, with technological advancement in the global village, embracing digital marketing was no longer optional.
Madeira then urged marketing students to be proactive.
“We came here to encourage the students as they have launched their consortium to work diligently and be visionary. The marketing profession is challenging and needs one who thinks outside the box,” Madeira said.
MCA Consortium of Marketers Publicity Secretary, Martha Chiwowa, said the students would adhere to the advice and work harder.
“We appreciate what the guest of honour has said. She has really inspired us,” Chiwowa said.
The Consortium of Marketers has been established with an aim of improving the students’ marketing ability and help them network with marketing professionals.
