The much-anticipated Chimwemwe Changa DVD album launch by Lilongwe – based gospel group The Marvelous Deeds flopped on Saturday at Gymkhana Club in Zomba due to poor organisation.

The show that was supposed to kick off at 1:30pm started two hours late with fans not willing to go in the hall as they did not see some of the artists that were billed to perform.

The Marvelous Deeds admitted that the show was a flop but said this happened because there were so many events in Zomba.

It was difficult for us and just imagine another event was taking place outside the hall. But all the same we still had to go ahead rather than cancelling it,” said one of the groups members Abel Sanena.

Apart from poor organisation, the group also did not do enough in terms of promotion.

The show started on a very low note and it was Peter Uyu Mlangeni who brought some life with few individuals invading the dancing floor.

The turn up seemed to affect the group because their performance was not as good as people expected.

According to other sources the group phoned some artists who were on the line up not to come after they realised that the show was a flop.

The show saw the DVD eking K50,000 during auction.

Other artists, who performed at the launch included King James Phiri, Evance Watsopano Meleka and the Mighty POV. The Marvelous Deeds also launched the DVD in Lilongwe on Sunday.

Marvelous Deeds is a group made up of Sanena, Francis Phiri and Weston Chipwaila.

The group started in 2005 and their other albums include Matamando and Mfumu Mukhale.
