Mary Waya, founder and coach of Mary Waya Netball Academy of Blantyre, is inviting aspiring young netballers to learn the sport at Blantyre Youth Centre.
Waya said she wants to recruit a new batch of talent to replace those who have graduated into top league teams and the Malawi Under-21 National Netball Team which finished sixth at a continental championship in Botswana recently.
“All interested girls are free to come. The training is for free and we will provide them training equipment every Monday and Wednesday from 11 am to 1 pm,” said the domestic netball legend.
“The training will be part of our mission to mentor young players so that they should pursue a career in netball and remain focused in school.”
The academy has produced promising players such as Virginia Nsanza, Yamikani Douglas, Mtendere Manyozo, Tapiwa Mvula, who were part of the junior national team.
Mos t of the academy’s graduates have since signed for teams such as Alliance Capital and Green Alliance.
