Malawi Schools Sports Association (Massa) has announced it will hold an elective annual general meeting on November 2 at Mufatsa Eco Lodge in Monkey-Bay, Mangochi.
Massa General Secretary, Blackson Malamula, said the four year-term of office for the main executive committee as well as the body’s affiliates has come to an end.
“On behalf of the national executive committee of Massa, I would like to inform you all that the term of office for all has expired. Therefore I would like to inform you all that Massa and our affiliates will all elect new office bearers,” he said.
Malamula said Divisional Elections will be held on November 16 in all six divisions whereas district elections will take place on November 23 in 34 districts.
“Positions to be contested include that of president, vice president responsible for primary schools and another vice president responsible for secondary schools. The posts of general secretary, treasurer, vice treasurer and women representative will also be contested for,” he said.
Malamula said Massa has also set up two posts for the vice president for smooth operation of association after a series of consultations with the two ministries of Education and Sport.
“Malawi National Council of Sports was also involved in the discussions,” he said.
Malamula said nominations forms will be sent to all divisions.
“All the divisions will nominate contestants and fill in the names on the forms. For one to be regarded as a nominee to contest, has to be nominated by one division and seconded by the other according to Massa constitution. If you are just nominated by one but no second-ment by the other division, then that nomination will be regarded as no contest,” he said.
