Massa verifies players’ ages
Malawi Schools Sports Association (Massa) has completed verifying players’ ages ahead of the Copa Coca- Cola national finals at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe from August 18 to 19.
Massa General Secretary, Blackson Malamula, said the verification exercise was completed yesterday with players certified as under-15s.
“We have gone to all educational divisions, with the South East being the last. Most divisions are faring well. Divisional chairpersons are doing a great job and they have made us happy,” Malamula said.
He said Massa is very strict on age-cheating, hence the exercise.
“This is the right time for us to teach our young players the right way of doing things. They should know that there is no short cut to success. We are teaching them to tell the truth each time they are asked about their ages,” Malamula said.
He added that the age-verification has also helped Massa appreciate teams’ preparations for the national finals.
The country’s six educational divisions have assembled select teams for the finals.
