Masters Security FC have opened talks with former Epac FC coach, Abas Makawa, hoping to lure him to the TNM Super League rookies’ camp.
Makawa, who was suspended as Chipiku Premier Division side, Lake Valley FC’s Coach recently, has emerged as the favourites to replace Benjamin Kumwenda.
Masters General Secretary, Zachariah Nyirenda, said the club would release a statement this week.
“The club is working on something before the start of the second-round. We will come up with a clear position on the situation of the head coach because Kumwenda was suspended,” Nyirenda said.
In a normal football set up, a TD is superior to a coach, but in Malawi it is viewed as a demotion.
Makawa on Monday confirmed being approached by Masters.
In a recent interview, Kumwenda said he was waiting to hear from the club’s officials.
“Masters suspended me with pay for the last five games of the first- round. When the first-round is over, I expect them to call me and make a statement,” he said in a written response.
Masters finished the first-round on position 12 with 17 points, six above the relegation zone.
