Masters Security FC closing in on Robin Ngalande

Flames on-and-off attackers Robin Ngalande and Micium Mhone are on the verge of joining newly-promoted TNM Super League side, Masters Security FC, ahead of the new season.

Ngalande, a free agent, has not played competitive football since August, and is back home to relaunch his career while Mhone terminated his contract with South Africa’s Jomo Cosmos after refusing to be loaned out to an unnamed Swaziland club.

In an interview on Sunday, Ngalande’s South African Manager, Paul Mitchell, confirmed that his client might switch to the Lilongwe-based side on a short-term deal.

“Yes, maybe short term as we have opportunities from next season and he wanted to study on a short course, “Mitchell said.

The former Atletico Madrid Academy player has refused several offers from giants Nyasa Big Bullets, Be Forward Wanderers and Silver Strikers since returning home.

But he recently told our sister paper, Malawi News, he would play for a local club until August.

“I will play for a local club until August but I do not want a team that will demand a lot from me,” Ngalande said.

Master’s General Secretary, Zacharia Nyirenda, said the deal is almost done.

“We have already agreed in principle. What is remaining is for him to sign a contract,” he said.

Masters are also interested in signing Mhone. But Nyirenda said Mhone’s deal is far from being concluded.

“Mhone is a police officer and it would be difficult for us to sign him without approval from Malawi Police Service,” Nyirenda said.

On his part, Mhone confirmed that Masters had approached him.

“I got a call from one of the officials of the team but I have not yet decided,” Mhone said.

Masters earned promotion into the TNM Super League after finishing as champions in the Chipiku Central Region Football League Premier Division with 96 points.

The team has already signed former Flames shot-stopper Simplex Nthala, Karonga United forward Khumbo Msowoya, Epac striker Chiletso Zoya, Raphael Phiri from Civo United and goalkeeper Bester Phiri.

Masters will be using Dedza Stadium as their home ground in their debut TNM Super League season.
