Masters Security FC midfielder Mphatso Dzongololo has joined Silver Strikers on a three-year deal as a free agent.
Dzongololo has followed out of Masters Babatunde Adepoju, Francis Mkonda and Vincent Nyanglu who joined Wanderers while Eric Atsigah is also pushing for a move to the Lali Lubani side.
Masters General Secretary Christopher Njeula and his Silver counterpart Lawrence Yobe confirmed the development.
Njeula said Dzongololo’s contract at Masters expired on Monday and the player refused to renew it.
“It could have been difficult for us not to let him go as his heart was at another club. We wish him well and thank him for helping us to do well last season,” Njeula said.
Yobe said they had engaged Super League of Malawi to give the nod to Dzongololo’s switch so that he can play for Silver.
“We are very glad to announce the signing of one of the best midfielders in Malawi, Mphatso Dzongololo. He will be with us for the next three years and we hope that he would help us in fighting for the league title.”
“As you are aware the season is in progress, so we had to seek advice from Sulom. Dzongololo will, probably, start training with us next week,” Yobe said.
Masters are under threat of Super League relegation as they are bottom of the log table with 14 points from 19 matches.
Masters are, despite competing in Caf Confederation Cup recently, in financial problems which led to the resignation of coach Abasi Makawa who is now at Silver.
