Masters Security FC earmark 18 for Caf game

Masters Security FC have disclosed that they will travel with 18 players to Angola to face Pedro de Luanda in a Confederation of African Football (Caf) Confederation Cup preliminary round first-leg tie.

The team’s Chairperson, Alfred Gangata, said they have trimmed their squad from 40 to 24 players in readiness for the competition.

Masters will leave for Angola on Wednesday ahead of the first-leg on February 10. The reverse fixture will take place a week later.

Gangata said the team’s General Secretary, Zachariah Nyirenda, will issue a press statement on the status of their players and progress of preparations for the Caf assignment.

“So far, so good. We are almost set, and we have the list of players that will travel to Angola. We are planning to travel with 18 or 19 players. I am still in touch with my technical team on other issues; so, once we conclude everything, we will give you all the details,” Gangata said.

Masters Coach, Abbas Makawa, said preparations for the match against Petro de Luanda were on track, having played against Be Forward Wanderers and TN Stars.

“If we maintain the rhythm, I have no doubt that we can do better in Angola. We are still targeting players from other clubs so that we should have a strong team that can compete for trophies next season,” Makawa said.

Masters hired eight players for the Caf campaign, including goalkeeper Chimwemwe Kumkwawa from Mzuni, Rafik Musa and Kondwani Lufeyo from Wanderers.

Masters will face Nyasa Big Bullets on Sunday in warm up match at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
