Masters Security hope for revenge

By Mabvuto Kambuwe:
Masters Security Coach, Abasi Makawa, has said his charges missed clear chances in their 3-0 loss to Proline FC of Uganda in the first leg of the Caf Confederation Cup preliminary round at Star Times Stadium, Lugogo, Kampala on Saturday.
Masters will host the Ugandan side in the return match at Bingu National Stadium (BNS) in Lilongwe on August 24.
But Makawa, though admitting that they have a huge task in the second leg, was upbeat of causing one of the greatest comebacks in the second tier continental club competition.
“Football is about goals and we failed to utilise the chances we created. We need to work hard in the return leg,” Makawa is quoted as saying on www. xinhuanet.com.
For Masters to progress to the second round, they need to score four goals and stop the visitors from finding the back of the net.
According to the online publication, Mphatso Dzongololo and Amadu Makawa came close to scoring for Masters, who are making their second appearance in the competition.
Proline Coach, Shaiq Bisaso, said it was good that his side kept a clean sheet, but star striker Ivan Bogere said they need to continue working hard ahead of the second leg.
“I am very excited that I have scored three goals. We needed to continue working hard for the return leg in Malawi,” Bogere said.
Masters first participated in the competition in 2017 but exited in the preliminaries when they lost 5-0 to Petro de Luanda on aggregate.
They lost the first leg 5-0 in Luanda but managed to hold the Angolans to a goal-less draw at BNS.
In the Caf Champions League, Nyasa Big Bullets drew 0-0 with Platinum FC of Zimbabwe at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre. Bullets will travel to Bulawayo for the second leg.
Bullets are in the elite continental club competition for the second consecutive year and are hoping for better results after last year’s disappointment against Kenyan side Gor Mahia.
The People’s Team exited the tournament in the preliminary round after losing 4-3 on post-match penalties after a 1-1 aggregate score.
