Mathews Sibale to sign for Mozambique club at K12 million
TNM Super League giants, Silver Strikers, and Costa do Sol have agreed, in principle, that striker Mathews Sibale should join the Mozambique side on a three-year deal worth $17,000 (K12.2 million) in January.
Silver General Secretary, Thabo Chakaka-Nyirenda, Wednesday said the Super League top goal scorer (with 12 goals) would be contracted to the Mozambique side effective January 1 2018.
“We have finalised our discussions. Sibale and his manager will discuss personal terms with the club any time he wants. He will play for us until the end of the season,” Chakaka- Nyirenda said about the striker who, recently, extended his contract with Silver by three years.
Silver Coach, Lovemore Fazili, said the gangling striker would be missed greatly next season, but they have other strikers such as Michael Tetteh, Binwell Katinji, Chinsisi Maonga, Ronald Pangani, Green Harawa, Binwell Katinji and Victor Limbani (improvised).
“Though we will miss him, we are proud that we have produced a lethal striker who can play for any team. He is a complete striker. His absence would be an opportunity for other strikers to shine for Silver,” said Fazili, whose side is third on the league’s log table with 50 points from 25 games.
Sibale has, for three seasons, been a key member of Silver, scoring the winning penalty in the Airtel Top 8 Cup final against Be Forward Wanderers at Bingu National Stadium recently.
The big striker can score a variety of goals—including headers— and take on defenders with his physical presence in the penalty box.
At Costa do Sol, Sibale will link up with compatriot Richard Mbulu
