By Mabvuto Kambuwe:
Forgotten Malawian striker Matthews Sibale scored as Costa do Sol claimed a 3-2 victory over Baia de Pemba in a Mozambique league match over the weekend.
The victory pushed Sibale’s side to the top of the league log table with 31 points from 16 games, two points above Uniao Despotivia Do Songo, who defeated Textil De Pungue 2-1.
Songo have Malawian players John and Frank Banda and goalkeeper Charles Swini.
Sibale has scored three goals in this campaign.
However, the former Silver Strikers goal-poacher said he has struggled due to injuries.
“I have been on-and-off [the pitch] because of injuries but I am better now. I will fight hard to help my team. We are at the top of league but we want to win the title this season,” Sibale said.
His compatriot Chawanangwa Kawonga did not feature for Costa over the weekend due to an illness.
