A grouping of football lovers known as MBC Stand Supporters Initiative gave a timely boost to Nyasa Big Bullets ahead of this afternoon’s Caf Champions League match against FC Platinum of Zimbabwe by donating various food items worth K200,000.
The two teams meet at Kamuzu Stadium in the preliminary round of the elite continental club competition.
The group’s General Secretary, Charles Mangani, said they made the donation to motivate Bullets ahead of the game.
“We have been carrying out various charitable deeds for several years. We have been to hospitals to cheer the sick and we have also donated to flood victims.
“When we heard about Bullets’ game against Platinum, we agreed to mobilise resources to buy a donation to our Malawian team. This is one of our objectives aimed at promoting unity of purpose in the game,” Mangani said.
He said Bullets are representing Malawi in the competition and require everybody’s support.
Bullets’ Team Manager, James Chilapondwa, hailed the group for the donation which he said had come at the right time.
“We appreciate any form of support we can get ahead of the game. We are grateful to the supporters for the donation. This will motivate our players and they will fight to win the game,” Chilapondwa said.
Some of the donated items are apples, oranges, biscuits and juice.
